Women's Online Register

Welcome to our register for women interested in being appointed to Government Boards and committees.

The Tasmanian Government is committed to providing the community with greater opportunities to participate in its decision making processes, and believes the membership of boards and committees should reflect the rich diversity of our community.

The Government recognises that women, people of culturally diverse backgrounds, Aboriginal, people with a disability and young people, provide a broad range of skills and offer alternative perspectives and opinions.

There are currently more than 250 Government Boards and committees with more than 1500 members. They are diverse in terms of functions, form, size and the way in which they are directed, controlled and held to account. They play an important strategic role in providing leadership and direction across every area of Tasmanian Government activity.

The Government is actively pursuing measures to identify and encourage suitably qualified people from groups which are under represented in decision making bodies.

About the Register

The Tasmanian Women's Register is a secure on-line database of women who would like to be appointed to Government and non-Government boards and committees, and/or participate in consultative and mentoring processes in Government, business and community sectors.

The Women's Register database records basic information on educational and professional qualifications, employment and unpaid work experience as well as other areas of interest and expertise. Those registering are invited to submit a short statement about their leadership skills and strengths.

Who can access the Register?

The Register is available to Ministers, ministerial advisors and designated officers in each department, including Women Tasmania. Each database user has a unique identifier number. The Register can be searched by key words to locate individuals with appropriate interests, qualifications and experience.

If you have indicated that you are available for appointment to private and/or community sectors boards, a search will be conducted by a designated Women Tasmania staff member and relevant names provided to the organisation.

Once your registration has been accepted you will be issued with a password to enable you to access and update your profile at any time.

Should you be among those considered for a position by either Government or a private organisation, you will be contacted and your Resume and other relevant information requested. This will enable you to ask questions about the position and tailor your application and Resume to the position if you are interested in nominating.

Can I remove my name from the Register?

Your name can be removed from the Register any time, by withdrawing your name in the database or by emailing wt.admin@dpac.tas.gov.au
